Copenhagen Pride Parade

August 17th, 2019 13:00 / 1.00 pm

True to tradition the Parade takes place on the last day of Pride Week and thus marks "the beginning of the end" prior to the show on the Copenhagen City Hall Square.

Starting area

We will use the streets on both sides of Frederiksberg Hown Hall to line-up the parade prior to departure. Smallegade will be closed for normal traffic (near the Town Hall) from early morning. This will unfortunately also cause some difficulties for the traffic in the area. We hope for understanding from those who will affected.

Of the same reason the traditional flea market on parking area behind the Town Hall will be postponed to Sunday. We would like to welcome the people who normally attend the flea market to come watch the Parade. Would would also be happy to reserve a spot in the Parade if they would like to join.

Parade route

The parade starts at Frederiksberg Town Hall, continues via Frederiksberg Allé, Vesterbrogade and Hammerichsgade; - and ends at Copenhagen City Hall Square. Departure from Frederiksberg at 13:00 / 1pm.

Toilets and/or urinals can be found near the black markers on the maps.

Length: 3.3km / 2.1 miles

Expected duration: Approximately 2 hours (from the first participants leaving Frederiksberg Town Hall to their arrival at Copenhagen City Hall Square)

The route starts at Frederiksberg Town Hall (A) and proceeds to:

  • Allégade,
  • Frederiksberg Allé,
  • Vesterbrogade,
  • Hammerichsgade,
  • Jamers Plads,
  • Vester Voldgade and terminating at
  • Copenhagen City Hall Square (B)

Planned stops along the way

In spite of valiant efforts to keep the parade together, we experience time and time again the parade splitting up into segments - gaps simply appear. This endangers participant safety (because of cars attempting to cut in or cross) and it is not a very audience friendly spectacle either. For that reason and according to suggestion from the police, we have planned stops along the way. The front section of the parade in particular should thus expect to be directed to stop for 5-10 minutes several times along the way. We hope that this will close any gaps and increase the density of the parade.

Always keep moving if you can

We kindly but strickly request that all participants to keep moving at all times whenever possible. We understand it may be tempting to stop and pose for photographers to show off the result of months spent labouring over your costume or the like. Step aside and let the parade pass if you want to have pictures taken. Otherwise, it is not just you who has to catch up with the people in front of you afterwards - all the people BEHIND you also have to catch up! We know from exprience that this creates gaps very easily; it is a safety hazard and it ruins the overall impression of the parade.

Respect the parade and the instructions from our guides: Don't stop - or get out!!
